It's August already...

Sorry I haven't updated in months but I can say that the rescues sent out for July were 88 dogs and we didn't have a Wisconsin transport. I think June was 97 transported!

This month we have sent 40 to Bideawee in Manhattan with my husband and I driving and delivering the dogs August 9th. (we left 8/08/08, loved the numerical significance) We also dropped 3 beagles off in NJ on the way to SOS Beagle Rescue. Awesome trip and we got to meet two adoptive families who had their TN dogs in for boosters/check ups. One was a husky pup with a deformed foot that Bideawee didn't hesitate to take and was adopted by a wonderful family with 2 small children. They said they'd been looking a good while for a Husky pup and she was everything they wanted. They thanked us for bringing her to them.

On the 22nd, a group of 38-40 dogs are going to several shelters in FL. The drivers will be our volunteer Deborah Hilton and her husband, their first transport. Chris Bedell is handling the coordinating of the dogs and rescues and the shelter staff is assisting her. It will go from Jacksonville, to Vero Beach to Stuart and on to Orlando.

The same day, Joyce Whooten and Laura Speigel who are driving to Chicago, offered to take some to Chicago rescues. Amber Levendusky made contact with some who offered to take 6 so Joyce and Laura will deliver them. Yea team!

The following weekend, a group of dogs will be going to Wisconsin, the HELP Shelter. We're still waiting to hear how many are going and who the driver will be. Hopefully another 30.

Dr. Hood arranged for some dogs to go with another Rolling Rescue transport from Jefferson Co. and they were delivered to the SPCA of Upper NY in Queensbury, a shelter we used to deliver to with the Sweetwater animal shelter.

So we don't have a total yet for the month but we're already planning for September and looking for more foster homes. We've also had lots of internet adoptions through Petfinder and due to Jenifer Steele's weekly updates. Unfortunately, some dogs will never make it out...they don't have the right look or the right temperment. We feel badly for those but will have to concentrate on the ones who make it to new horizons. We have lots of love to give to each one.
