Just completed the May 2008 trip to Bideawee in Manhattan and Angel Paws in Gloversville, NY. Both took more animals than they ever have before; Bideawee - 25, Angel Paws - 15. Thanks to both! For the first time, checked driving distance to/from Gloversville to see if trips to Bideawee and Angel Paws should continue to be linked. Surprised that there's only about a 50 mile premium for visiting Bideawee on the same trip (825 miles direct home from Angel Paws; 875 miles to Angel Paws via Bideawee). Gas/tolls - $384.17, Van Rental - $137.61; food & lodging are donated by the drivers. For 40 dogs delivered, that's just a few pennies over $13 per dog! And that's with the price of gasoline nearer to $4.00 than $3.50............

Bloggie, The Wonder Dog
OK. I'm Bloggie and, like the government, I'm here to help you. If you ask (nicely), I will Fetch the Rolling Rescue Website when you're on the Blog or Fetch the Blog when you're on the Website. Just "left click" on my picture. Right now, I've been told to replace one with the other. Let me know if you think it'd be better if I opened a new browser window instead. That way, you could have both the Website and the Blog opened at the same time ("simultaneously" for the polysyllabic amongst you).

Transport News!
Laura Spiegel and her friend from Japan, Keita, just delivered 5 dogs to a shelter outside of Chicago. Two were dogs that had been at the shelter a very long time and were due to be euthanized. The shelter has agreed to take two more, Grady and Grommit, when a foster home opens up. Thanks, Laura and Keita!
This Friday, 20 to 25 dogs and pups will be headed to Bideawee in Manhattan and Long Island along with 10 others bound for Gloversville. We love this trip although it is the longest drive and most difficult. The dogs get the best care and best homes imaginable and we enjoy meeting with the staff at both shelters. They send us updates and photos on the dogs and ones in Manhattan often are part of tv news for adoption events
Renovations continue at the shelter so more dogs are being fostered and eventually the shelter quarantine rooms can house most of the dog so volunteers can help more. Right now we need people to sign up for transport days which are 2 to 3 Fridays a month.
We have such incredible dogs and want/need more dog experienced people to join us! Help!?
